The music industry is still in its infancy, but the first-ever industrial music awards ceremony was held in the United Kingdom this weekend.
The inaugural award was given to music writer, producer and songwriter John Atkinson, who won his first ever major recording contract for The Hounds of Love, with which he is currently involved.
Atkinson’s record, which was released in 2014, was nominated for the 2017 Album of the Year award, as well as the Album of Music and Music Video awards.
He will be competing against fellow Brits, like producer Nicky Wire, for this year’s awards.
Atkinson is no stranger to the music industry, having previously won the BAFTA and the Oscar for his work with Coldplay.
In 2015, he became the first artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he will be honored with an honorary doctorate.
His music has been sampled by several top artists, including Coldplay, Kanye West, and the Rolling Stones.
In 2017, Atkinson recorded a remix of Kanye West’s hit “Stronger” for his forthcoming album, Life.
